I’m a figurative artist living and working in Somerset in the South West of England. I am greatly influenced by bodily shapes and forms in dance and movement. My primary compositions are in oil on canvas. These develop from charcoal, pastel and ink drawings on paper which are also an important part of my work. Anatomical drawing has been a passion for the majority of my life but it has been within the last six years that these sketches have developed into large scale, commercial works of art. I maintain the technique of drawing the human form at a number of life-drawing classes in the South West. My style, technique and ideas are constantly developing. I go to many dance performances and I draw in-situ, subsequently developing my own style using bold colour, texture and using strong muscular and dynamic detail. I draw inspiration from artists such as Egon Schiele, Paula Rego, Duncan Grant and Picasso. I have had a solo show in Chard, Somerset and have exhibited in Somerset Art Weeks for the last five years. In 2013 I shall be exhibiting at Blue Cedar Print Works for Somerset Art Weeks.
